Koto: Legends Arise/Shihon

Shihon

Shihon, or the "Capital Island" is located in the middle of Koto. To its west, the Umi sea, to its east Wanyru Gulf, it connects the two mainlands with its harbor. Shihon is mostly covered in flat grasslands, with few hills scattered about. It is ruled by the Tenno, Toda Shunmyo and his subordinate daimyo Hamaro Isakage. Shihon is the home of the richest, the wealthiest, the noblest and the best. Land in this region is unimaginably expensive and even living in the main cities comes with a hefty rent. The disconnect from the rest of Koto's inhabitants shows in the habits, the pompous buildings but also the incredibly low crime rate in this region. The four core cities of this region are the capital Hiso, the harbor city Poto and the cities of Umigara to the south-west and Wankabe to the south-east. The remaining areas are mostly reserved for private residences, inhabited by the noble families of Koto. Many of the daimyo also have a palace on Shihon, even if most of their time is spent in their own regions. Shihon is home to a variety of races, due to its inhabitants. Both, nobles of all kinds and their servants bring a great range of species to this region.

Hiso

Hiso is the capital of both, the Shihon region and the entirety of Koto. The Tenno’s palace casts its pompous shadow over the city. The entire city is a beautiful sight to behold, being built on an incline. The more important the buildings, the higher up one will find them. The houses in Hiso are all equally pompous, the entire city shining in noble glory. Hiso is incredibly large, being the biggest city in Koto and taking a long time to traverse when going from one end to the other. Due to that, a rickshaw system helps citizens get around with fairly little cost. Due to the size, there are multiple market squares throughout the city. There is a main market in the upper centrum, as well as one market in each cardinal direction from the center. Most prices are similar, not at last due to the tax system, but sometimes one can find a good bargain in one of the markets.

Poto

Poto, the northern most city of Shihon, is the regions main harbor. This pompous but practical metropolis is the main transshipment point between the two mainlands and supplies the capital island with goods. As is usual on the island, even the workers that live here are of the higher middle class, as working in Poto is a well paid privilege. Besides the workers, many merchants have their main stores for high quality wares here. If you ever are looking to buy something special, wondrous or unique, Poto is the best bet to find it. The harbor city is always busy and business takes up most of what happens here, with the beautiful outeriors of buildings often leading to well filled warehouses and pompous shops.
