Ferratum is an elective monarchic nation located in and around a mountain range in central Deoria. The mountainous terrain causes most cities to be built within the rock.
Ferrratum is known for its incredible mining culture and the rare minerals that can only be found there. In addition they are known to be great architects and inventors.
As such, the most common professions are those of miners, architects and metalworkers of various kinds.
Ferratum is almost exclusively populated by dwarves. Due to that, the national language is dwarvish.

The dwarves of Ferratum praise the great Pafnuzius. According to their faith, he was the first miner to ever grace Deoria. He led his kin to Ferratum and established it as nation. Some even call him the first dwarf.
Faith in Ferratum is part of everyday life, yet there are no specific churches or rites for it. Still, imagery of Pafnuzius can be found all over dwarven culture and his name is part of many idioms in their speech. |
Administration and Social Classes
Ferratum is an elective monarchy. Every 15 years, the citizens elect senators out of the candidates that run for office. A total of 27 senators is elected. The senat votes an emperor into office, which will reign as sovereign until his death. The emperor will then select his ministers from the senat, doing so once again after every election. Theoretically an emperor may be voted out of office, if the senate votes to do so with an absolute majority. This has however never occured to date.
Social classes in Ferratum are relatively simple, since its a very equal society, where all citizens have the same rights. Only in the military does a hierarchy come into play.
History
Ferratum was founded by the great dwarf Pafnuzius. He conquered the central mountains of Deoria, establishing them as an independant people. They grew on their own, gaining great wealth through trade.
When the darklings first came, the dwarven nation was first to fall, devestated by the attack of the new foe. After the reclamation of their homeland, the closeness to the tainted continent of Vugzurad caused the air to grow thick and uncomfortable to breathe. Due to that, most of the dwarven cities were constructed within the mountains, complex air filtration systems and daylights built to allow for vegetation and other comforts.
Military

The dwarven military is made up almost exclusively by heavy infantry. Armed and armored, large shields wielded, they are organized into centuries, cohorts and legions. The dwarves are experts in formation fighting, their soldiers having learned many formations, so that they may effectively fight in almost any scenario.
The army is led by the primus pilus, the centurion of the first centuria of the first legion, the most elite troop of fighters in the empire. |
Foreign Relations
Ferratum has a very simple policy in terms of diplomacy. They trade with everybody, yet ally with none. They are respected for their unique skills among the other nations.

Kag Kuldor is the capital of the dwarven empire. The large city runs through an entire mountain. All dwarven cities are a marvel of architecture, but Kag Kuldor is the largest yet. Through complicated machinations, daylight, water and fresh air are provided or the inhabitants, causing the interior of the mountain to have a more diverse fauna than the entire surface of Ferratum. |

Irik’han is the largest and most secure dwarven fortress, located on Ferratums south coast. It is a last retreat, known to be unassailable by any known army of Deoria. |

Dawrim, dwarven emperor by Pafnuzius grace, is the sovereign of the dwarven empire. He is well liked and respected, known as a wise man, who knows when to think and when to act. Dawrim has been emperor for over two hundred years already and it does not appear anybody is looking to replace him. |

Thumgar, current primus pilus of Ferratum, is the military leader, advisor and close personal friend of the emperor. Known as equally wise, though more pragmatic and less rhetorically skilled than his superior, he is held in very high regard by all of Ferratum. |
