Administration and Social Classes
Galardanad is structured as an absolute monarchy with a hereditary royal title. The ruler has a court of ministers, which each ruler may appoint themselves, usually based on skill and knowledge. These ministers handle most of the administration, with little ruling actually done by the monarch.
There are no direct social classes in Galardanad. In law, all citizens are equal, with the exception of the royal family. Every citizen may own land and has the same rights. Taxes are based on income and property.
Still, the inhabitants can be seperated into two groups, based on where they live.
Galardanad is large made up by rural areas and farmlands, on which most citizens spend a calm life. However, there is one large city in the nation, which is vastly different. The capital is filled with workers of many walks, artisans and craftsmen. Especially luxury goods, clothing art and exquisite food are in high demand, both for the cities people and for export. Most producers of such goods earn a good amount of money, as do the merchants that trade with them.
History
Galardanad once was quite different from the way it is today. The goblins were known to be a folk of fierce raiders. Countless attacks on the growing nation of Ithlilien, who did not seem to get a grasp on their assaulters.
Eventually though, as the empire of IIthilien grew stronger, they overwhelmed the goblins of Galardanad, bringing the fight to them instead of allowing their hit and run strategies to continue.
While putting up fierce resistance, the goblins were still defeated rather swiftly. Impressed with the martial prowess of what had been assumed to be cowards, the reigning God-emperor of the time, Ithlum IV., allowed Galardanad to become a vassal rather than be absorbed into the empire.
Now being both, protected and supported in growth by Ithilien, the raiding culture of the goblins became obsolete. It shifted, becoming more and more focussed on the higher pleasures in life. Food, art, theater and more took their place in the spotlight, the culture of the goblins changing into a more homely, cozy one.
