Chisai

The region of Chisai is by far the most multi-facetted one of entire Koto. From the mountain ranges of Kozan to the Serpent Bay, from the Kitsui Jungle to the green forests of the grasslands, Chisai spans a great area and has all kinds of terrain and people within it. It is currently under the rule of the dwarven Daimyo Goha Mikoko.

While the east of Chisai is entirely taken up by the Kozan Mountain range, its north is mostly grasslands with thick forests of pine trees. In the south, the open flatlands are interrupted by the thick vegetation of Kitsui jungle. In the very south-west, Serpent Bay takes up large amounts of the region.

With the mountains being very rich in ores, Chisai is the main mining region in Koto. But the jungle wood of Kitsui is just as unique and wanted for the luxurious furniture crafted from it. The unique fauna of both, the jungle and Serpent Bay also make the Chisai region one of the biggest exporters of the entire land.

A variety of races lives in Chisai, but the most predominant are the dwarves in the north and goblins in the south.

Cities

Atsui

The city of Atsui is the largest city of Chisai and its capital. It is one of the largest cities in Koto, second only to the capital, Hiso. Atsui is built in a dwarven style of architecture, making it a sight to behold in comparison to most other cities

Atsui is a unique city not only in its looks. It is a mining and smithing city, being the largest supplier of metals, stones, wood and all wares made of those things. The crafting and trading districts are truly one of a kind and something anybody should have seen if they ever visited the city.

Just as unique is the palace of the daimyo, with the building being one of the oldest in Koto, as is its inhabitant. Even the military district is worth taking a look at.

Boei

Boei is the largest military fortress in the entirety of Kansho. Located to the north of Atsui, it is larger than some cities in other regions. This epitome of military architecture is said to be impenetrable in its defense, with a population and army being able to hold out for years with its defenses and supplies.

Landmarks

Kozan Mountains

The Kozan mountains describe the large mountain range to the east of Chisai. They are the most mineral-filled place of all Koto, making it the core mining position for the entirety of the land.

However, even with the amount of usage that the mountains find, a lot of them remains unexplored, not at last because even for the dwarves, the terrain is difficult to pass and takes time to get through. As they dig deeper into the stone, they discover more about the mountains with every swing of the pickaxe.

Kisui Jungle

The Kitsui jungle describes a patch of thick jungle terrain with unique flora and fauna. The plants and animals that live in this jungle are dangerous, so dangerous in fact that people stay far away from them. That leaves the jungle without any civilization.

Many legends and myths rank around this place. From monsters that live in the jungle to a legend about a kitsune that raises those that find her to heroes. Nobody has gone to find out about the truth of either, or returned to tell the tale.

The outest parts of the jungle are safe enough for the people of Koto to lumber, producing the unique Kitsui wood, that is used for the most luxurious of furniture and crafts.

Serpent Bay

Serpents Bay is the name given to a large bay in the south of the Chisai. It features a beautiful sand beach and crystal clear water. Still, it is not the flourishing vacation destination one would expect.

The fact that people stay away from this place as much as they do is most likely due to the fact that the shore is infested with dangerous, venomous snakes of varying sizes. It does not help that according to common belief that within its waters, even larger monster-serpents are said to live. Some even say that beneath the sand in the water, the entirety of the ground is made up of one gigantic snake, which sleeps until something foolish enough to enter the sea wakes it.
