Astoria is relatively young country. It's territory are the plains in the Greenlands. The crest features a silver crest on purple background.
Government
Astoria is a monarchy with one family holding all the governmental control. While there is a monarch the position is entirely representative since all decisions are made within the Kusiak family and merely made public through the monarch.
The decisions and laws are enforced through a system of Kapjitans which are responsible for their villages or cities. A mayor of a village represents the people and supports Kapjitans while resolving issues in their territory.
Alliances
Astoria has a military alliance with Staborgia. Otherwise there is not much official friendly contact with other countries.
History
The country before the ascension in Astoria's place had a more rural and federalistic system. After the ascension all villages kept their lords. Over time the Kosiak family gained more and more territory through trades, intrigues and battle until they declared their territory as Astoria in 3E152.
Society
The people of Astoria have little wealth but are helpful to all who give help in return. Most villages keep to themselves and solve problems themselves. The government and their systems are rarely trusted and only the most necessary interactions are done. The people of Astoria value hard working people and favours.
Corruption
With the little trust the Astorian people have in their government they tend to try and work around the official systems. This works by either not involving them in the first place or by paying with favours to smooth things over with the responsible Kapjitan. The bigger the problem or the higher up the governmental position is the higher the favour gets. Favours can be taken in the traditional sense. Many times simple money suffices. This is well known and common practice throughout the whole government. A corrupt Kapjitan is not prosecuted by their higher up since their higher up is also benefiting from corruption.
