Oskesh is the western country in Yosis. It's many mountains spread the already low population across many small settlements. The mountains also make hiding easier so the population count might not be accurate.
The crest features a blue moon on white background.
Government
Oskesh is a feudalistic monarchy where the Shogun holds the total power. This power is further handed down the hirarchy towards the Daimyo and then the Samurai. Traditionally smaller decisions are left by the Shogun for the region and the respective Daimyo or Samurai but the Shogun has the power to veto or decide themselves.
The Samurai is revoted every 10 years by their respective people.
The Daimyo gets nominated every 10 years by the Shogun once the Shogun is five years into their reign. The Daimyo then keep their position until death.
Shogun
The Shogun becomes Shogun once they have reached at least 18 years of age and are child of a current ruling Shogun. When a Shogun comes within 5 years of their death they give the throne to their heir. The heir ideally their oldest son. If the Shogun doesn't have a son then the next legitimite heir are, in the following order, their daughter, their nephew and their niece. Should the Shichoku forsee the death of a Shogun they notify the Shogun within 10 years of their death.
The next 10 years are used to prepare the nation and descendant for the time of after their death.
Should a Shogun not have a legitimate heir they choose a Daimyo who will follow them in the line of Shoguns. Ideally the Daimyo is married into the Shoguns family beforehand so the dynasty is kept pure.
Alliances
Oskesh is friendly with Osmor and has a military alliance with Farandell.
History
Oskesh was founded after the Treaty of the White Tower in 2E1.
In 2E753 the Maki dynasty ended and a Daimyo started the Saito Dynasty.
After the ascension most members of the Saito dynasty disappeared leaving the second eldest daughter to become Shogun. She reigned until 3E76 as the first female Shogun.
Society
Oskesh society is very influenced by it's mounainous region. Given the small secluded villages there is a strong emphasis on helping each other and living an honorable life.
The eastern plains are mostly farmland which produces food that doesn't grow in the mountains. The farmers are not rich, as they deem it dishonorable to charge high prices for goods that the citizens of Oskesh need, but they are highly praised as the backbone of society.
The people of Oskesh value honor above many things and aim to life a good life according to their code of honor.
